"Cinderella"  This scarecrow was made by Carole for the Upchurch Village Scarecrow competition 2010.  A piece of roofing batten was wrapped with commercial Aran weight wool to gvive a base into which she could needle felt some raw fleece.

When the face shape was formed she then used coloured fleece to determine features etc.  The wool was dyed in a microwave using food colouring.  Her hair is raw staples of natural brown Wensleydale fleece, punched in.

The following 2 photos are of curtains woven by Carole.  She used white cotton at 24 wraps per inch and warped up a modified Monks Belt pattern.  She dyed the cotton with Dylon dyes, to go with the bathroom tiles.

The following 6 pictures were taken during our Monday daytime weaving sessions.

The woollen rug is being made by Stephanie on a linen warp.  The technique is of Ghiordes knots [which is a town in northern Iraq] with two rows of the warp thread between two rows of alternate knotting.  This is a very secure type of knot which lends itself to long pile rugs.

Irene is weaving the mercerised cotton cream and blue table runner, which is a Bronson lace pattern.

The light brown and cream rag rug was made by Silvia for Ina's bathroom.  These rag rugs are very popular with family and friends, and are very absorbent and easily washed in the washing machine.
