Club Retreat to Minster Abbey near Ramsgate in May 2011
We have been visiting the Abbey for a few days for about the last 12 or more years.

These Abbey buildings, as you can see, are medieval
and are still used by the nuns as living accommodation.
The left hand corner is the only ruined part.
The Guest House where we stay, although also built of
stone, is considerably newer and very comfortable.
This completes the range of original buildings.
The ruined part shown above is to the left of this picture.
The Abbey grounds are quite extensive and very pretty.

This is the chapel which is adjacent to the main buildings.
It is open to the public for worship, and we are always invited
to attend services if we wish.
Usually some of our members attend at least one service.
This is the view from our spinning room window.
The cottage in the background is nothing to do with the Minster
,
There os a bird house fixed to the garden wall, and we watched
the parent bluetits going in and out to feed their young.

As well as the Abbey gardens, there is another garden
which is accessed just outside the precincts. This
shows the small wild flower meadow with our members
in the background.
Just another small area of the other garfden.
This is a little more formal than the meadow and still
in course of construction.
I am having trouble posting some of the photos onto the web page, so here are just a few of our members in our spinning room.
